Tell us about your business!

Stefani: I own a Philadelphia based handbuilt pottery business called Threet Ceramics. I use the vibrant hand painted and hand carved surfaces of my pottery to spread joy and love. I sell my work at craft shows, retail stores, and museum shops. I recently started selling my work wholesale and have over 40 stores carrying my work across the country.

What accomplishment are you celebrating right now?

Stefani: I am the founder of the Independent Makers of Philadelphia, a nonprofit cooperative compiled of artists/crafters of various mediums that sell our work at craft shows or retail stores.

I was also just invited to be a part of the Urban Potters Studio Tours, which is compiled of academic ceramicists and will push me more towards a balance between craft and fine craft.

What keeps you motivated?

Stefani: I've always loved to create. Its been a dream come true to be doing this full time for the past three years. Working for myself and being allowed to create things with my hands that go out into the world is very satisfying.
I love getting pics from friends, family, and customers who discover a piece of my pottery in someone else’s home.

What's one tip you want to share with other entrepreneurs?

Stefani: I think its imperative to build your tribe and connect with other business owners and entrepreneurs. Owning and running your own business can seem like such a solitary thing, but we can build each other up by sharing our experiences.

What's your favorite app or resource of the moment?

Stefani: Square keeps my business going, Slack has been great for organizing communication.

What are you listening to lately?

Stefani: Throw backs — Jill Scott and the complete opposite some M.I.A. and Santigold throwbacks.

Who are you crushing on?

Stefani: I'm admiring a lot of badass lady bosses at the moment. Some local ones of note @sardineclothing @sarahryandraws @stichprism and @lkmurdoch.

What inspirational words resonate with you recently?

Stefani: I asked a wise man once "does life get easier, as you get older?" His response: "Life is full of obstacles, but as you get to know yourself more over the years, you become better at navigating them."

Where can we find you online?

Stefani: My website and Instagram (@threetceramics).
